The Seattle University men's basketball team will don the black uniforms for the second time in as many seasons Saturday afternoon when the Denver Pioneers visit KeyArena for a 3:30 p.m. tipoff.
In keeping with the theme of the day, the first 500 fans through the doors at KeyArena will receive a black T-shirt courtesy of BECU. The game will be televised live by ROOT SPORTS as well as broadcast on 770 AM KTTH The Truth.
The Blackout is a unifying game day experience for both fans and the team. This event directly features one of the primary Athletics brand colors, black. Black is part of Rudy's coloring and has long been integral to the interlocking "SU" logo.
To support the Blackout, all fans are asked to simply wear a black shirt, sweatshirt or jacket. No other adornment will be permitted, such as "blackface" face painting, the use of black wigs or other racially divisive identifiers, and would be grounds for removal from KeyArena at the discretion of Seattle University personnel.
Seattle U wore the black uniforms at KeyArena last season when Pepperdine came to town Feb. 16, 2012. The Redhawks defeated the Waves, 81-70, and the team will be looking for a similar result this season against Denver, a team currently on a four-game winning streak.
Tickets for Saturday's game, as well as all remaining Seattle U home games, are available online through Ticketmaster.com or the men's basketball ticket page of GoSeattleU.com. They are also available at the KeyArena Box Office during normal business hours or beginning 90 minutes before tipoff of each game.
