After leading Seattle University in scoring in both games last week, senior forward Chad Rasmussen (University Place, Wash.) was named College Sports Madness WAC Player of the Week, announced Monday morning by the website.

Rasmussen made his first appearance of the 2012-13 season in the Seattle U starting lineup last Monday at Eastern Washington and helped the Redhawks defeat the Eagles, 75-69. He finished with 16 points, hitting four three-pointers, plus he pulled down four rebounds and earned two steals.

Last Thursday against Washington, Rasmussen hit five three-pointers as he scored a season-high 19 points on 7-of-12 shooting from the field. He scored seven points during an 11-2 Redhawk run that started the second half to pull Seattle U to within 13 points.

For the season, Rasmussen is fourth on the team in scoring. His scoring performance over the past two games raised his scoring average from 4.4 points per game before the Eastern Washington contest to the current mark of 8.1 points per game. He leads the Redhawks with 15 made three-pointers.

The Seattle University men's basketball team, 3-4 so far this season, hosts Jackson State Monday night, Dec. 17 at KeyArena at Seattle Center starting at 7 p.m. Tickets for all remaining Seattle U home games are on sale online through Ticketmaster.com or the men's basketball ticket link on GoSeattleU.com.
