MOVING PAST THE HYPE: A lot was said about Seattle University's previous game against Washington. While all of the talk was helpful the spreading the word, it was only the seventh game of the 2012-13 season for the Redhawks. There are still three non-conference games to be played before the start of conference play. This stretch of three games in six nights begins Monday when Jackson State comes to KeyArena.
WHERE TO FIND THE GAME: 770 AM KTTH The Truth will broadcast the game live, with Dave Grosby and Gary Hill Jr. courtside starting with the pregame show at 6:45 p.m. Live stats and live video will also be available on GoSeattleU.com.
THE WASHINGTON GAME: Despite an 11-2 run to open the second half, Seattle University found itself in too large of a deficit to overcome, and fell to cross-town foe Washington in the team's annual matchup, 87-74, Thursday night at KeyArena. Chad Rasmussen led the Redhawks with 19 points, a season high, and Clarence Trent also scored in double figures with 12 points. Washington was led by Scott Suggs with 24 points, as well as four other Huskies who scored in double figures. UW outshot SU overall, 54.4 to 37.3 percent, but the Redhawks led in three-point percentage (38.5 percent to 36.4 percent). The Huskies also led from the free-throw line (77.8 percent to 51.9 percent). UW also outrebounded Seattle U, 42-37, but committed more turnovers, 12-10. Washington shot 64.3 percent (18-of-28) from the field in the first half, plus hit 11-of-12 free throw attempts, in pulling out to a 46-19 lead before the Redhawks closed the half on an 8-3 scoring run.
WHITEOUT: Thursday night against Washington, Seattle U wore white uniforms for the first time since the end of the 2008-09 season. Over the previous three seasons, the Redhawks wore grey uniforms for the vast majority of their home games. This season, Seattle U went with its red uniforms in the exhibition game and the first three regular season home contests.
