LAST WEEKEND: Playing three matches in five days, Seattle University performed well at times, but could not bring home any victories. Last Thursday night, the Redhawks got off to a slow start at Texas State before taking advantage of sloppy play from the Bobcats to win the third set. However, Texas State recovered in the fourth set, making only one attack error on its way to a 3-1 victory (25-11, 25-10, 22-25, 25-15). Kaytlyn Dill notched her ninth double-double of the season with 12 kills and 12 digs, plus she collected three service aces. Allison Farley contributed five kills and four total blocks, while Lani Beadle earned 18 digs. Two nights later, the Redhawks never got on track in San Antonio, not going into the lead at all until the third set as UTSA cruised to a 3-0 win (25-14, 25-15, 25-15). Once again, Dill finished with 12 kills. Monday night, the Redhawks were in Las Cruces, N.M., facing the New Mexico State Aggies. Despite a solid offensive performance, Seattle U lost to the Aggies, 3-1 (25-20, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16). Dill earned 23 kills, while Sarah Jaeckel contributed 13 kills and Beadle finished with 21 defensive digs.

As a team, the Vandals are hitting .216 and are averaging 12.62 kills, 1.20 service aces, 15.43 digs, and 2.51 blocks per set. SEATTLE U VS. IDAHO: This will be the fourth meeting between Seattle U and Idaho since the Redhawks started the transition to Division I in 2008, with the Redhawks winning the first two matches between the two schools. On Sept. 12, 2008, at the Portland State Volleyball Showcase in Portland, Ore., the Redhawks defeated the Vandals in a five-set thriller (25-23, 18-25, 25-23, 18-25, 15-6). Two seasons later, on Sept. 17, 2010, at the Gonzaga Volleyball Classic in Spokane, Wash., Seattle U dropped the first set before winning the next three for a 3-1 victory (17-25. 25-20, 25-19, 25-14). In the teams' first meeting this season, on Oct. 5 at the Connolly Center, Idaho won the odd sets and Seattle U took the even sets, leading to the Vandals defeating the Redhawks in five sets (25-16, 19-25, 25-18, 19-25, 15-13). Kaytlyn Dill notched a double-double with 22 kills and 17 digs, while Jacquie Brice also earned a double-double with 55 assists and 14 digs. Seattle U libero Lani Beadle led all players with a career-high 30 digs.
