Seattle University women's soccer (7-7-2, 2-2-2) made their longest trip of the regular season to Ruston, La. to face Louisiana Tech (12-1-4, 3-0-2) in Western Athletic Conference competition and the match ended in a 0-0 draw in 2OT.
"We played pretty good today and we played very hard," said head coach Julie Woodward. "I was proud of the team. We moved the ball well and created some decent opportunities to score. Coming out of this road trip with a tie is not bad; they are a solid team."
The Lady Techsters had several chances to score early in the first half, but great defense by the Redhawks kept the ball out of the net. At the half, the score was still tied, 0-0, with shots nearly even, 3-2 in favor of LA Tech.
In the 65th minute, Louisiana Tech had their best chance to score, on a free kick by Brittany Beddow, followed by a second shot four second later, but the Seattle U defense blocked the ball and kept the match scoreless.
The Redhawks had one of their best chances to score in the 90th minute, as Melissa Busque (St. Bruno, Quebec, Canada) took a shot that hit the post, but the score remained 0-0 at the end of regulation.
Seattle U took one shot in the first overtime, and Louisiana Tech took two in the second in the continually even contest. Overall, the Lady Techsters narrowly outshot the Redhawks, 10-9.
