The Seattle University athletics department has come to an agreement with Verizon Wireless for the telecommunications company to become a corporate sponsor of Redhawk Athletics for the 2012-13 academic year.
In exchange for its financial support of the Seattle U athletics program, Verizon Wireless will receive, among other things, signage at the Connolly Center, Championship Field, and Bannerwood Park; logo placement within the LED ring, video board, and scorer's table at KeyArena at Seattle Center; and a full-page advertisement in the men's basketball gameday program. Verizon will be the gameday sponsor for the Feb. 2 men's basketball game between Seattle U and Utah State at KeyArena.
In addition, Verizon Wireless will sponsor Seattle U giveaways and will assign ambassadors to five Seattle U campus events. The ambassadors will be Seattle U students, giving them real-life marketing experience to go along with the education they currently receive in the classroom.
Verizon Wireless is also sponsoring a contest in which one Seattle U student will receive $1,000, a 4G LTE Android Tablet, and a $125 Verizon Wireless gift card. To enter the sweepstakes, students should head to www.verizoninsider.com/seattleu.
"Seattle U Athletics is excited to have Verizon Wireless on board as a corporate sponsor," Nick Peterson, assistant athletic director for corporate partnerships said. "We look forward to their involvement, as they will elevate the gameday experience for our students and fans throughout the year."
Seattle University is competing within the Western Athletic Conference in 17 sports, within the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in men's soccer and men's swimming, and as a Division I independent in women's rowing.
