Redhawks Host Vikings In Last Game of Homestand: Seattle University women's soccer (2-2-0) will host Portland State (0-3-0) on Sunday, Sept. 2 at 1 p.m. After starting the season with four of five games at home, this will be the last game of the homestand for Seattle U. The Redhawks hit the road for four straight road matches before returning home on Sunday, Sept. 23 (12 p.m.) to host Utah Valley in the final non-conference game of the season.

Ritzman Named WAC Offensive Player of the Week (Aug. 20-26): Taylor Ritzman was named the Western Athletic Conference Offensive Player of the Week after recording a hat trick on Aug. 26 versus Eastern Washington. This is already the second hat trick and second such award for the Redhawks this season. Ritzman scored all three goals for Seattle U in the 3-0 victory. Two of her three goals were within 25 seconds of each other and three of her four goals this season have come within three minutes of entering the contest.
Leaders of the WAC: After the second week of competition, the Redhawks lead the WAC in shots (74), assists (8), and shots per match (18.5). Individually, Taylor Ritzman leads the WAC in points (8), goals (4), points per match (4), and goals per match (2). Monique Escalera is tied for the lead in assists (3).
As Seen on TV: Two Seattle U contests this season will be broadcast on the Pac-12 Network (Friday, Sept. 14 at Oregon at 6 p.m. and Sunday, Sept. 16 at Oregon State at 12 p.m.).
Scouting Portland State: The Vikings enter this weekend's matchup with a 0-3-0 record this season. Despite the record, two of three losses were by just one goal, and all three were within two or less. Thus far, Portland State has faced three opponents that the Redhawks have faced or will face this season. In their first match of the season, they fell, 0-2, to St. Mary's College. They then headed to Corvallis, Ore. to face Oregon State, falling 1-2, before returning home to face Oregon and an 0-1 loss. Lainey Hulsizer is the Vikings starting goalie, recording six saves so far this season.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks and Vikings last faced in the Viking Soccer Classic, hosted by Portland State, on Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011, with Seattle U coming out on top, 2-1. Ava Ames scored the gamewinning goal in the contest. The Redhawks hold a 2-0-2 advantage over the Vikings since returning to Division I play.
