Seattle University Director of Athletics Bill Hogan has announced that Nick Peterson has been hired as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Corporate Partnerships, effective Wednesday, June 6, 2012.
Peterson has been a graduate assistant within the athletics department for the past two years, first working within the game operations office during the 2010-11 academic year. He transitioned into the marketing and promotions side of the department this past year, including assisting with the fulfillment of corporate sponsorship agreements.
When this position was vacated in April, Peterson was called upon to fill in with regards to putting together proposals as well as conducting follow-up meetings with current corporate sponsors.
"Nick has a strong work ethic and knows what this department needs in terms of support from our corporate sponsors," Hogan said. "I am confident that he will do everything it takes to be successful in his new role within the department."
Before coming to Seattle University, Peterson spent 4 1/2 seasons with the Iowa Cubs, the triple-A affiliate of the Chicago Cubs, assisting with stadium/game management and ticket operations. At the same time, he was working towards his bachelor's degree in social science education from Northwest Missouri State University, where he also served as student director of concessions for Bearcat athletics and Aramark.
Peterson will be completing his master's degree in sports administration and leadership from Seattle University in the fall of 2012. He will be attending the National Association of Collegiate Marketing Administrators (NACMA) Convention in Dallas June 25-28 after receiving one of 16 Mike Cleary Convention Stipends from the national organization.
The Seattle University athletics department is about to complete the transition to NCAA Division I status. The department will see 17 of its 20 sports move into the Western Athletic Conference July 1, 2012, with the men's soccer and men's swimming programs remaining in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation and the new women's rowing program competing as a Division I independent in 2012-13.
