Scheduled to play a doubleheader at Weber State (14-20), the Seattle University softball team (10-18) got in one game versus the Wildcats and led in game two before the game was postponed due to weather.

"We had our chances today and we almost completed a great comeback in the seventh," said head coach Dan Powers. "Bubba [Morrow] had a clutch double to tie the game. We just need more quality at bats to win the close games."

In game one, Weber State got on the board first with a 2RBI home run to center field before the Redhawks put their first run on the board, with a Brianna Guerrero (Buena Park, Calif.) run in the top of the second on a Karina Smyth (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) single.

Holding a 2-1 lead, the Wildcats added another run each in the bottom of the third and fifth innings to take the 4-1 lead.

With one out in the top of the seventh, Seattle U loaded the bases with Lisa Maulden (Maple Valley, Wash.) on first, Erin Crowley (Kent, Wash.) on second, and Theresa Clark (Lakewood, Colo.) on third. In the next at bat, Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) doubled down the left field line to bring in all three runners to tie the score, 4-4.

In the bottom of the seventh, with the bases loaded, Brooke Silva singled to center field to bring in Symbree Minniear for the game-winning run, and Weber State took the victory, 5-4.

Richelle Ashburn (Post Falls, Idaho) got the start in the circle for the Redhawks, allowing three runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out three in two innings pitched. Mandie Sugita (Rossmoor, Calif.) entered in relief for the final four innings, giving up two runs on five hits, while walking two and striking out one batter faced.

Sarah Clark pitched the entire game for the Wildcats, giving up four runs on five hits, while walking four and striking out six in seven innings pitched.

To begin the second game, Seattle U loaded the bases with no outs and went on to score 11 runs in the opening inning. In the 11-run first inning alone, Crowley and Maulden each scored two runs, and Maulden also added 3RBIs.

After the bottom of the first inning, the game was postponed until Saturday, April 7. Game two of the series will be played at 9 a.m. and games three and four will be played as scheduled beginning at 11 a.m.
