Yasir Rosemond, assistant coach of the Seattle University men's basketball team for the past two seasons, has resigned to become an assistant coach at Samford University in Birmingham, Ala.
Rosemond was brought onto the coaching staff of Seattle U head coach Cameron Dollar before the 2010-11 season and helped the Redhawks earn victories over Oregon State, Virginia, Pepperdine, and Utah State over the past two years. Before his time at Seattle U, Rosemond was an assistant coach under Ernie Kent at the University of Oregon, where he played from 1997 to 1999.
"I would like to thank Yasir for the contributions he has made to our program these past couple of years," Dollar said. "We wish him well in all his future endeavors."
Rosemond moves on to Samford University to join the staff of first-year head coach Bennie Seltzer, who took over the Bulldog program earlier this month after serving as an assistant coach at Indiana and Marquette under Tom Crean.
Dollar is currently searching for a new assistant coach to join the Redhawk program as it moves into the Western Athletic Conference starting in the 2012-13 season. The Seattle University men's basketball finished the 2011-12 campaign by winning nine of its last 12 games, including eight in a row at KeyArena.
