Seattle U Softball Drops Two on Day Two at PSU

Seattle University softball was defeated in both contests on their final day of games at Portland State (21-21, 11-5), falling 3-0 in game one and 2-0 in the series finale.

Game 1 - Portland State 3, Seattle U 0


Portland State scored all three runs in the second inning, none of which were earned, in the first contest of the day.

Sarah Petosa (Auburn, Wash.) and Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) each reached third base in the third and fourth innings, respectively, but the Redhawks were not able to bring the runners home, and they fell 3-0 in game one of the day.

Jessica Ulrich (Lewiston, Idaho) allowed all three runs for Seattle U while walking one and striking out two in 1 2/3 innings pitched. Mandie Sugita (Rossmoor, Calif.) entered in relief, allowing only two hits, while walking one and striking out three in 5 1/3 innings pitched.

Anna Bertrand pitched the complete game shutout for Portland State, allowing only four hits while walking one and striking out seven in seven innings pitched.

Game 2 - Portland State 2, Seattle U 0

The Vikings added a run in the first and one more in the sixth in the series finale. The Redhawks left two runners on base in four of seven innings and missed opportunities to score resulted in Portland State taking the 2-0 win in the final contest of the weekend.

Richelle Ashburn (Post Falls, Idaho) pitched the entire game for Seattle U, allowing two runs on eight hits, while walking two and striking out one in seven innings pitched.

Bertrand earned her second complete game shutout of the day for the Vikings, allowing six hits while walking and striking out three in seven innings.

Seattle U (15-24, 8-8) returns to their "home away from home" at the Federal Way National Little League Fields for two days of doubleheaders versus Northern Colorado, starting at 12 p.m. on Apr. 28 and 11 a.m. on Apr. 29. Senior day festivities will take place before the Apr. 29 contest.
