Seattle University senior forward Aaron Broussard (Federal Way, Wash.) earned Honorable Mention recognition on the 2011-12 National All-Jesuit Men's Basketball Team, announced recently by the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities and the Jesuit Basketball Spotlight.

Broussard finished the 2011-12 season 39th in Division I in scoring, averaging 18.2 points per game. He ended his Seattle University career 13th on the school's all-time scoring list with 1,455 career points, as well as second on the program's all-time steals list with 161 career steals. Broussard started all 27 games for the Redhawks this season, shooting 46.7 percent from the field and 71.8 percent from the free throw line, plus he pulled down 6.5 rebounds per contest.

A consensus All-Independent selection, Broussard scored in double figures 23 times during the 2011-12 campaign, including seven games scoring 20-29 points and three contests with 30 or more points. He notched four double-doubles over the course of five games, including a 31-point, 11-rebound performance against Nebraska Omaha Dec. 29 and a 20-point, 10-rebound game at Washington Jan. 10.

Broussard was named Jesuit Men's Basketball Player of the Week twice: after the Elgin Baylor Classic, where he also earned All-Tournament honors after averaging 25.0 points and 9.5 rebounds per game, and after the team's back-to-back home victories against Eastern Washington and Utah State, when he averaged 25.5 points and 5.5 rebounds per contest. He was also named to the Jesuit Men's Basketball Honor Roll three other times during the year.

The All-Jesuit Team represents student-athletes from the 28 Jesuit colleges spread across the United States that play basketball on all three levels of the NCAA and also in the NAIA. They share the mission of Jesuit education, founded nearly 500 years ago under the principles of St. Ignatius Loyola to educate young people to become men and women dedicated to service and compassionate leadership. Students at Jesuit colleges have long excelled in the classroom and in the community, but they also have played a major role in collegiate basketball in the last 100 years.

The Seattle University men's basketball team won nine of its last 12 games, including eight home games in a row, to finish the 2011-12 season with a 12-15 overall record. The Redhawks will join the Western Athletic Conference starting in the 2012-13 season.
