Sophomore Kacie Sowell was named to the 2011-12 National All-Jesuit Team and senior Talisa Rhea received Honorable Mention. This team represents women's basketball student-athletes from all three levels of the NCAA as well as the NAIA at 28 different Jesuit schools across the nation. These student-athletes embody the Jesuit mission by not only excelling on the basketball court, but also in the classroom, in service, and in leadership.
Sowell finished with the season with a double-double, leading the team with 14.3 ppg and 10.2 ppg. She also shot 56.6 percent from the field, finishing fifth in the nation. Rhea finished second on the team, shooting 14.1 ppg and averaging 4.5 rpg. She led the team by far with 165 total assists, finishing 26th in the country in assists per game (5.2 apg).
Sowell and Rhea have received several other national awards this season, as Sowell was named College Sports Madness Independent Player of the Year, Fourth-Team All-Mid Major, and was named to the Women’s Basketball Invitational All-Tournament team. Rhea was named CSM Independent Player of the Week three times throughout the season. Both players were named First-Team All-Conference as well as being named to the Division I All-Independent Women’s Basketball team.

Also on the Honorable Mention list are Michelle Baker (Saint Joseph’s), Taryn Johnson (Fairfield), Miriam McKenzie (Loyola Maryland), Sarah Nelson (Creighton), Katherine Plouffe (Marquette), Tae’lor Purdy (Regis).
