Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) remains in a tie for second as the Seattle University women's golf team finished the second round of the West Coast Conference Championship Tuesday at San Juan Oaks Golf Club.
McCleary carded 75 (+3) on the day, equaling her first round score. Teeing off from hole no. 10, she made the turn at even-par 36 but bogeyed each of her last three holes to turn another three-over-par score. She shares second place with three other players and sits two strokes behind the individual tournament lead.
Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) lies two strokes behind McCleary and has sole possession of 7th place. She followed up yesterday's 75 (+3) with a second-round 77 (+5). Pearson has a two-day total of 152 (+8) heading into the third and final round.
Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) and Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Wash.) are separated by one stroke in the tournament standings. Quinn sits in a tie for 22nd with a total score of 161 (+17) after shooting 83 (+11) Tuesday. Gaddie, who completed the second round in 82 strokes (+10), is tied for 24th overall with a two-day score of 162 (+18).
Christine Cook rounds out the Redhawks' roster. She shot 82 (+10) during the second round for a two-day total of 170 (+26).
The Redhawks sit in fifth overall after taking 316 strokes (+28) on the day. Fifteen strokes ahead, #20 Pepperdine has the lead with a cumulative score of 609 (+8). Alina Ching from Pepperdine, ranked 64th in the country, has the individual lead with a two-day score of 148 (+4).
Seattle U hits the course at San Juan Oaks Golf Club for the final time Wednesday, April 18 for the final round of the WCC Championships. Tee times start at 8:00 a.m. PST off hole no. 10.
