BUSY WEEK: Seattle University is preparing to play four games over a five-day span, starting with the second game of the season against the Washington Huskies Tuesday at Husky Ballpark. The Redhawks will then return to Bannerwood Stadium for a Wednesday game against British Columbia, followed by contests Friday and Saturday against Concordia University. THE BYU SERIES: For the second straight weekend, Seattle U did not win a game until the final day of the series, with BYU taking three of four over the Redhawks. The Cougars started the series by sweeping a doubleheader Thursday, 6-3 and 9-3. Seattle U stranded 12 runners on base in the first game, wasting a great relief appearance by Evan Ewing, who allowed only two hits, two walks, and one run in 5 2/3 innings of work. The Redhawks were held to five hits in the second game, and those offensive struggles carried over into Friday's game at Cheney Stadium, as Seattle U notched only six hits in a 4-1 loss. Saturday afternoon, Seattle U scored twice in the second inning and single runs in the third, fifth, and seventh innings. Garrett Anderson allowed only three hits and one walk in seven innings as the Redhawks picked up the 5-2 win.

SCHEDULE CHANGES: Seattle U will now travel south Wednesday, April 25, to face Portland in a single game starting at 3 p.m. Changes have also been made to the season-ending series against the Pilots. The start time Friday, May 25, has been moved up to 1 p.m., while the games May 26 & 27 are now at Bellevue College.

TO THE NORTH: Tickets are now on sale for the collegiate baseball game next Monday, April 23 between Seattle University and Washington State at Everett Memorial Stadium, the home of the Everett AquaSox. General admission tickets cost $7 for adults, $5 for youth under 17 years of age, and $5 per ticket for groups of 15 or more. Seattle U students, faculty, and staff will receive free admission with a vaild school ID. Members of the military can receive two free tickets with a valid military ID. Tickets are now available through the AquaSox by calling 425-258-3673 or by going online to their website.

SCOUTING WASHINGTON: The Huskies come into Tuesday's game with an 18-15 overall record, but just a 5-7 record within the Pac-12 Conference after losing two of three at California over the weekend. Washington is 3-8 in its last four series, losing two of three to Oregon State, Stanford, and California while also dropping two straight to Gonzaga. As a team, the Huskies have compiled a .285 batting average, a .978 fielding percentage, and a 3.66 earned run average. Offensively, Jayce Ray leads the team with a .358 batting average, 43 hits, 25 runs scored, nine doubles, three triples, and six stolen bases. Michael Camporeale has hit a team-high four home runs and also leads the Huskies with 19 runs batted in. On the mound, Joshua Fredendall leads the way with 16 appearances, boasting a 1-2 record with six saves and a 1.53 earned run average. He has struck out 22 opposing batters in 17 2/3 innings of work.

SEATTLE U VS. WASHINGTON: Seattle U and Washington are playing for the 115th time in history, with Washington holding a 61-53 series advantage. Since the reestablishment of the Redhawk baseball program, the Huskies have won five of eight meetings over the Redhawks. After losing all three games during the 2010 season, Seattle U broke through in 2011, winning two games to become the first Redhawk team to beat the Huskies since the start of the reclassification process in 2008. In the first meeting this season, Seattle U scored three runs in the first inning, and Brandon Kizer and Garrett Anderson combined to hold Washington to one run on four hits as the Redhawks defeated the Huskies, 5-1, Feb. 22 at Husky Ballpark.

SCOUTING BRITISH COLUMBIA: The Thunderbirds come into Wednesday's game with a 21-14 record after taking three of four from Concordia University in Portland, Ore. As a team, British Columbia has compiled a .273 batting average, a .966 fielding percentage, and a 3.83 earned run average. Blake Carruthers leads the team at the plate with a .382 batting average and eight stolen bases. Nick Senior is batting .297 with nine doubles, three triples, five home runs, and 30 runs batted in, while Matt Spillman has drawn 48 walks in 32 games played. Out of the Thunderbird bullpen, Conor Lillis-White is 2-2 with a 3.10 earned run average and four saves in 13 appearances.

SEATTLE U VS. BRITISH COLUMBIA: These teams met for one game April 6, 2010, at Bannerwood Stadium. British Columbia scored twice in the top of the fourth inning and held on for a 2-1 victory over the Redhawks. Nate Roberts went 3-for-4 for Seattle U.

SCOUTING CONCORDIA: The Cavaliers are 20-23 going into the weekend series against the Redhawks. As a team, Concordia has compiled a .272 batting average, a .949 fielding percentage, and a 5.22 earned run average. Mike Cero leads the team offensively with a .384 batting average, including nine doubles, four triples, and two home runs, plus he has driven in 26 runs. On the mound, Larsen Kohler is 5-4 with a 3.24 earned run average and four complete games.

SEATTLE U VS. CONCORDIA: The Redhawks earned an 8-1 victory over the Cavaliers April 9. 2010, at Bannerwood Stadium. Bryndon Ecklund went 4-for-5 with a home run and four runs batted in.
