SEATTLE U KICKS OFF PCSC PLAY WITH SECOND STRAIGHT TRIP TO STATE OF IDAHO: After competing in the SpringHill Suites Invitational #2 hosted by Boise State University last weekend, Seattle University returns to the neighboring state of Idaho as they face Idaho State on their home field for two days of doubleheaders. These contests will mark the beginning of the conference schedule for Seattle U. The Redhawks and Bengals will meet for a doubleheader on Saturday, Mar. 31, and Sunday, Apr. 1, starting at 11 a.m. both days. Before the first game on Saturday, ISU will have a dedication ceremony for the new Miller Ranch Stadium, which first opened for the 2011-12 season. SCOUTING IDAHO STATE: The Bengals enter this weekend's contests with a 3-21 record and are on a ten-game losing streak. The team's last win was Feb. 24 versus South Dakota at the aTen Construction Tournament hosted by the University of California Riverside. Idaho State competed in the SpringHill Suites Invitational #1 at Boise State, but four of their five scheduled games were cancelled due to rain. They are currently in the middle of a six-game home stand after hosting Utah on Mar. 29 and falling 10-2 in five innings.
SERIES HISTORY: Seattle U last faced Idaho State (3-21) five times throughout the 2010-11 season, going 1-4 versus the Bengals. In their last meeting on Idaho State's home field, on Sunday, May 1, the Redhawks came away with the 11-10 victory in eight innings. In that game, Karina Smyth hit the game-winning RBI single to left field. In 2009-10, the two teams split two days of doubleheaders, going 2-2, as the Redhawks won both contests on day one (Apr. 10) and the Bengals came away with wins in both contests on day two (Apr. 11). During the 2008-09 season, the Redhawks went 1-3 versus the Bengals. Since returning to Division I play, Seattle U is 4-9 versus Idaho State.
