Game 1 - North Dakota 7, Seattle U 6 (8 innings)

After a quiet start through the first two innings, North Dakota got on the board first, scoring four runs in the top of the third on three hits.

Seattle U put two runs of their own on the board in the bottom of the inning as Jessica Ulrich (Lewiston, Idaho) singled to center field to bring in Bubba Morrow (Auburn, Wash.) and Jenny Hurst (Laguna Niguel, Calif.).

North Dakota added another run in the top of the fourth and led, 5-2, going into the bottom of the sixth.

With two outs in the bottom of the sixth and the bases loaded, Morrow hit a grand slam to bring in Sarah Petosa (Auburn, Wash.), Becca Cable (Tacoma, Wash.), and Mandie Sugita (Rossmoor, Calif.), and put the Redhawks ahead, 6-5, going into the seventh inning.

North Dakota was able to tie the game in the top of the seventh on a Courtney Gonzalez single, scoring Jessi St. Marie.  Seattle U left two on base, but was unable to score in the bottom of the inning and with the score tied, 6-6, after seven innings, the game headed into extra innings.

In the top of the eighth, Erica Younan singled to bring in Mallory Tacdol for the game-winning, unearned run for North Dakota and, with a quick three outs by the Redhawks in the bottom of the inning, North Dakota came away with the win.

Ulrich got the start for Seattle U and gave up five runs on seven hits in three innings pitched, while walking two and striking out one.  Sugita entered the game in relief and gave up two runs, only one of which was earned, on six hits while walking three and striking out three batters.

Michelle Frank started for North Dakota and gave up all six runs on ten hits, while walking three and striking out two.  Abby Jo Tometich came in in relief and notched the win, allowing one hit, while walking one and striking one out.

Game 2 - Washington 4, Seattle U 0

In game two, Washington scored first, as they put three runs on the board in the bottom of the second.

The Redhawks threatened, leaving two on base, with Petosa left in scoring position on second, in the top of the third, but were not able to bring home any runs.

The Huskies then added a single run, going up 4-0, in the bottom of the sixth on a Hooch Fagaly home run.

The Redhawks left two in scoring position, with Briar Stanley (Snohomish, Wash.) on second and Karina Smyth (San Luis Obispo, Calif.) on third, in the top of the seventh, but Washington stranded them on base, and the No. 4/3 Huskies notched the win.

Richelle Ashburn (Post Falls, Idaho) got the start for the Redhawks and gave up four runs, two of which were earned, on only five hits, while walking two and striking out one.

Kaitlin Inglesby notched the start and win for the Huskies, giving up four hits, while walking two and striking out 11 in seven innings pitched.

"I was very proud of our performance and believe this will be a turning point for us this year," said head coach Dan Powers.
