For the second time in the weekend series, Seattle University fell victim to a complete game, as UC Davis's Tom Briner pitched a five-hit shutout to lead the Aggies past the Redhawks, 3-0, Sunday afternoon at Dobbins Stadium.

Briner threw 110 pitches, 74 for strikes, as he scattered five hits without a walk and struck out six Redhawk batters. Seattle U never had more than one runner on base in the game, and Briner was helped by two double plays, a pickoff, and a runner caught stealing.

UC Davis (8-8) scored in the bottom of the first inning when Ryan Allgrove walked, advanced to third on a double by Paul Politi, and scored on a grounder hit by Mike Mazzara. The Aggies added a second run in the second inning when Austin March was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a single by Scott Kalush, and scored on a single by Brett Morgan.

In the fifth inning, Kevin Barker led off with a double down the left field line and came around to score on back-to-back groundouts. All three runs were given up by Seattle U starter Seafth Howe (Seattle, Wash.), who suffered his first loss of the season after allowing seven hits and two walks in six innings of work.

Bryndon Ecklund (Elma, Wash.) went 2-for-3, as did Marcelino Morales (Pasco, Wash.). However, Seattle U was shut out for the first time this season and was unable to win its first road series since the reestablishment of the program in 2008.

Seattle University (9-7) is scheduled to send Brandon Kizer (Marysville, Wash.) to the mound Monday, March 12, as the Redhawks host Connecticut at Bannerwood Stadium in Bellevue beginning at 4 p.m. Live coverage of the game will be available on GoSeattleU.com.
