The Seattle University women's tennis team dropped a close match at Boise State Saturday afternoon, losing 4-3 to the Broncos at the Boas Tennis Center in Boise, Idaho.

The Redhawks' points came exclusively from singles victories. Lindsey Newman (Freeland, Wash.) continued her singles winning streak, beating Boise State's Manuela Pietzuch in the number three singles slot. Newman was forced to come from behind in the match as she lost the first set 6-1. She came roaring back in the last two sets, however, and sailed to a 1-6, 6-0, 6-2 victory.

Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) also won her singles contest. In the sixth singles position, she took down Kaitlyn Brown 6-2, 6-2 to give the Redhawks another point in the contest.

The first SU point of the day came from the number one singles spot where Boise State's Sonia Klamczynska forfeited the point to SU's Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.).

Seattle University lost the doubles point to begin the match, falling in all three doubles matches. Lucas and partner Nicole Nakaoka (Honolulu, Hawaii), however, forced the Broncos' duo of Brown and Klamczynska into a tiebreak before losing 8-7(5).

Seattle U is back in action Sunday, Feb. 5, when they travel to Idaho State for a 9:00 a.m. matchup with the Bengals.
