The Seattle University women's soccer team was recognized for its performance in the classroom during the 2010-11 academic year, earning the 2011 National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Team Academic Award, announced recently by the national organization.
The women's soccer squad combined for a 3.08 grade point average in 2010-11, one of 572 women's soccer programs across all divisions throughout the country to earn the award for posting a team GPA of 3.0 or higher. Combined with a 12-6-1 record in the 2011 season, the Seattle U women's soccer team continues to prove how well-rounded it is.
"I am just as proud of our accomplishments in the classroom as on the field," Seattle U head women's soccer coach Julie Woodward said. "Our players strive hard to be great representatives of our program in all areas, and this is a great way of showing their commitment to excellence in the classroom."
The Seattle University women's soccer team will join the Western Athletic Conference beginning in the 2012 season and will immediately be eligible for the conference title.
