Senior forward Aaron Broussard (Federal Way, Wash.) has been noticed by national websites throughout the season, but his recognition has picked up over the last two weeks with some significant honors.

College Sports Madness has named Broussard Independent Player of the Week in each of the last two weeks. He earned the weekly honor Jan. 23 after averaging 25.5 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 2.0 steals per game in Redhawk victories over Eastern Washington and Utah State, making 19-of-30 shots from the field (63.3 percent). He was a repeat winner Jan. 30 after collecting 18 points, nine rebounds, and three steals against UC Irvine Jan. 24.

College Hoops Net named Broussard its Independent Player of the Month as part of the January All-Independent Team. During the month, Broussard averaged 20.7 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 2.3 steals per game. He started January with three straight double-doubles at Utah Valley (15 points, 11 rebounds), at Washington (20 points, 10 rebounds), and against Utah Valley (20 points, 13 rebounds). Broussard scored a career-high 34 points against Eastern Washington Jan. 16, his second game scoring over 30 points this season.

For the season, Broussard is averaging 18.5 points per game, currently 30th in Division I in scoring average. He is closing in on the 1,300-point mark for his career and would become only the 17th player in program history to reach that plateau. Broussard is also in fourth place on the career steals list with 151, including a team-high 32 steals so far this season.

Seattle University hosts Arkansas State this Saturday, Feb. 4, at KeyArena starting at 7:10 p.m. Tickets for all remaining Seattle U home games are available through Ticketmaster and at the KeyArena Box Office.
