The Seattle University men's basketball team lost to Utah State, 78-53, Saturday night at the Dee Glen Smith Spectrum.

Utah State (5-5) scored the first five points of the game, but Seattle U responded with six unanswered points. The Aggies did most of their damage from the free throw line during a 10-2 scoring run that gave them a 15-8 lead with 11:46 left in the first half. After a layup by Clarence Trent (Tacoma, Wash.) pulled the Redhawks to within three at 22-19, Utah State scored 11 straight points on its way to a 35-24 halftime advantage.

Early in the second half, Utah State extended its lead to 45-26, thanks in part to a three-pointer by Preston Medlin and a steal and dunk from Danny Berger. The Aggies excelled in all aspects of Saturday's game, shooting 50 percent (22-of-44) from the field, including 6-of-11 from behind the three-point line, and 75.7 percent (28-of-37) from the free throw line.

Nobody reached double figures in scoring for Seattle U, as the Redhawks shot just 29.2 percent (19-of-65) from the field, including 3-of-23 from behind the three-point line. Seattle U did win the rebounding battle, 43-35, including 21 offensive boards. Sterling Carter (Seattle, Wash.) finished with eight points and seven rebounds, and Prince Obasi (Reseda, Calif.) also scored eight points.

Medlin led Utah State with 22 points on 6-of-12 shooting from the field and 7-of-7 shooting from the free throw line. Kyisean Reed scored 13 points in the game, while Berger contributed 11 points, seven rebounds, and five assists to the winning effort.
