Based on his performance during the first month of the college basketball season, including reaching a major scoring milestone, senior forward Aaron Broussard (Federal Way, Wash.) has been named to the November All-Independent team by the website CollegeHoopsNet.com.
Broussard opened the 2011-12 season by scoring 17 points at Portland State Nov. 15 and 19 points against San Francisco Nov. 19. At Montana State Nov. 22, he shot 7-of-10 from the field and 8-of-9 from the free throw line in a 23-point, five-rebound performance as the Redhawks defeated the Bobcats, 85-73.
Early in the game against Montana State, he scored the 1,000th point of his career, becoming the 35th player in Seattle U men's basketball history to reach that mark. After scoring 10 points against Evergreen State Nov. 28, he ended November by averaging 17.3 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, shooting 52.1 percent (25-of-48) from the field, including 5-of-10 from behind the three-point line, and 87.5 percent (14-of-16) from the free throw line.
This is the second honor received by Broussard by CollegeHoopsNet.com, as he was previously named to the Preseason All-Independent Team by the website. The November All-Independent Team, which includes players from the Great West Conference as well as the true Division I independents, also featured Jeremy Robinson of Chicago State along with future Redhawk opponents Mitch Albers of Nebraska-Omaha, Isiah Williams of Utah Valley, and Antwan Carter of Longwood.
Seattle University (2-3) heads across the country to face Harvard University Sunday, Dec. 4, beginning at 2 p.m. local time (11 a.m. PST). Dave Grosby and Gary Hill, Jr., will call the action on 710 ESPN Seattle, starting with the pregame show shortly before tipoff.
