After winning four events in individual races as well as anchoring a come-from-behind victory in one relay, senior Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.) has been named the Male Swimmer of the Week by the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation (MPSF), announced Wednesday by the conference office.

Last Friday in a triangular meet with Pacific and Air Force in Stockton, Calif., Anderson entered the pool with his relay team in fourth place in the 200 medley relay. However, with a blistering split time of 20.05 seconds, Anderson was able to pull ahead and touch the wall 14/100ths of a second ahead of his nearest competitor to give the Redhawks the event victory.

Later in Friday's meet, Anderson was the only swimmer to break 21 seconds in winning the 50 freestyle in 20.82 seconds, the second-fastest time in the MPSF so far this season. He then went on to win the 100 freestyle in a time of 46.41 seconds, almost 1.3 seconds faster than the second-place swimmer.

Saturday, Anderson was able to repeat his victories in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle in a quadrangular meet with Pacific, Air Force, and CSU Bakersfield. Once again, he was the only swimmer to break 21 seconds in the 50 freestyle, posting a time of 20.89 seconds, and he came from behind to win the 100 freestyle in 46.29 seconds, 8/100ths of a second ahead of conference foe Chris Pipes of CSU Bakersfield.

"Jordan had a great weekend, winning all of his individual races and being a clutch performer on the relays. That is something we can always expect from him. He really enjoys the relays and being put in the situation to step up each time to help the team out," head coach Craig Nisgor said.

Anderson is the defending MPSF champion in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle. He also holds the school records in the 50 freestyle and 100 freestyle, plus he is part of record-setting efforts in the 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay, and 200 medley relay.

The Seattle University men's swim team will compete in a quadrangular meet this Saturday, Nov. 12, against Colorado School of Mines, Utah, and host Denver at the El Pomar Natatorium beginning at 12 p.m. local time.
