This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University men's soccer team (2-8-2 overall, 1-4 MPSF) remains at home this week, hosting a pair of matches versus MPSF Mountain Division affiliates in No. 5 New Mexico (11-0-2 overall, 5-0 MPSF) and UNLV (2-10-0 overall, 1-4 MPSF). SU takes on the Lobos on Friday, Oct. 21 at 3:30 p.m. and hosts the Rebels Sunday, Oct. 23 in a 1 p.m. contest. Both matches will be played at Championship Field.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks split results last weekend in their first conference home stand. They dropped a third consecutive 2-1 heartbreaker, this time to San Jose State on Oct. 14, before getting back in the win column with 2-0 shutout over Sacramento State Oct. 16.
Senior Marshall Kosaka scored both goals for SU, in their first conference win of the season.
On Deck: SU will head to the state of Colorado for two games, taking on Air Force on Friday, Oct. 28 and Denver on Sunday, Oct. 30.

Snap that Skid: The Redhawks snapped a seven-game losing streak with their 2-0 victory at home versus Sacramento State Oct. 16.
Two for One Special: Marshall Kosaka scored his first two goals of the year on Oct. 16 in SU's 2-0 win over Sacramento State.
Ready, Aim, Fire!: The Redhawks took a season-high 23 shots versus Sacramento State Oct. 16. Mikey Ramos led the team with 10 shots, five of them on target, while Marshall Kosaka landed two of his five shots in the back of the net.
Reese Earns First Win: Junior transfer Marshall Reese took over starting goalkeeping duties this past weekend. After falling to San Jose State on Oct. 14, 2-1, he earned his first career victory between the pipes versus Sacramento State, 2-0, two days later. In 207 minutes of action, he's tallied seven saves.
Richards' Back: After missing five consecutive games from Sept. 23 to Oct. 9, senior tri-captain Elliot Richards returned to action versus San Jose State on Oct. 14. He scored his first goal of the season off a penalty kick versus the Spartans and followed that up with an assist on Marshall Kosaka's second goal versus Sacramento State two days later.
Ranked Opponents: The Redhawks have faced three ranked opponents in 2011, most recently nearly defeating No. 13/18 UCLA on Sept. 23; however they fell 2-1 off a late goal. They dropped a 3-1 decision to then-No. 9 UCSB on Aug. 27 to open the year, before taking then-No. 23 UW to a scoreless draw on Sept. 11. They add to that list on Friday, Oct. 21 by facing fifth-ranked New Mexico.
The Newbies: The Redhawk roster boasts 14 newcomers, with freshman Travis Heim leading the squad with a pair of goals and an assist.

Scouting No. 5 New Mexico: New Mexico is 11-0-2 overall, 5-0 MPSF on the year and they head into Friday's match ranked No. 5 in the nation. The Lobos are riding a seven-game winning streak, having shutout both Denver, 6-0, on Oct. 14 and Air Force, 1-0, on Oct. 16.
Devon Sandoval and Blake Smith lead the offense with seven goals each. Sandoval is also the team's assists leader, with seven.
In goal, Victor Rodriguez has started 13 games. He has a 0.64 goals against average, with 31 saves and five shutouts. Javier Lane has played 44 minutes between a pair of matches and has a perfect 0.00 goals against average.
The Last Time Seattle U Faced New Mexico: The Redhawks lost 2-0 to the UNM Lobos last year in Albuquerque, N.M. on Oct. 22. Ed Walugembe fired four shots, but none found the net during the shutout.
Scouting UNLV: UNLV brings a 2-10 overall, 1-4 MPSF record into the weekend, following a pair of conference losses. They fell 4-0 to Air Force on Oct. 14, and dropped a 5-4 double overtime decision to Denver two days later.
The Rebels' top goal scorer is Salvador Bernal, who has tallied five goals in 12 contests. Bernal, Jonny Espinoza and Julian Portugal have each contributed two assists this season, as well.
Ryan Harding has spent most of the time in between the pipes for the Rebels. In 11 matches, he has a 2.41 goals against average, 45 saves and one shutout. Simon Cook earned one start, allowing four goals and making six saves.
The Last Time Seattle U Faced UNLV: In their last meeting on Oct. 24, 2010 in Las Vegas, Nev. the Redhawks prevailed 2-0 over the Rebels. Kevin Cook opened scoring in the second half with a long blast off a free kick and Kyle Peterman tacked on the clincher 13 minutes later.
