Winnie Lim, an alumnus of Seattle University who participated on the tennis team during his time at the school, will be inducted into the USTA Pacific Northwest Hall of Fame during the organization's Tennis Fest in Bellevue this Saturday, Oct. 15.
Lim is being honored for his "significant achievements and contributions to the sport of tennis in the Pacific Northwest," according to the letter he received in September informing him of this honor. This is the second time in three years Lim will be honored by the USTA Pacific Northwest, receiving the President's Award in 2009 for his contributions to the sport of tennis, especially helping to increase the participation of the Asian community in the sport.
Lim will become the third Seattle U alumnus to be inducted into the USTA/PNW Hall of Fame, joining Janet Hopps Adkisson, who was inducted in 2000, and Tom Gorman, who earned induction in 2001. Lim was a teammate of Hopps Adkisson on the Seattle U tennis team in the l950s.
The USTA/PNW Awards Luncheon and Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony will take place Saturday, Oct. 15, from 12:45 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. at the Bellevue Hilton Hotel, located at 300 112th Avenue SE in Bellevue, Wash. The public is welcome to attend the event for $40. For more information, contact the USTA Pacific Northwest at wasson@pnw.usta.com.
