Senior Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) picked up her second tournament victory of the season, winning the Cal Poly Firestone Grill Invitational by nine shots Monday at the Monarch Dunes Golf Course.

McCleary, along with two other golfers, posted the lowest score of the third round, shooting three-over-par 74 to finish the tournament at four-over-par 217, nine strokes ahead of her nearest competitor. Through three tournaments this year, she has won twice, finished tied for fourth in the other tournament, shot her best career round Sunday (66), and has a 73.0 scoring average so far this season.

Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) concluded her best tournament of the season, shooting four-over-par 75 in the third round to finish in a tie for ninth place with a cumulative score of 233 (+20). Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) posted a score of five-over-par 76 for the second consecutive round to end the tournament in a tie for 11th place at 236 (+23).

Monica Keo (Oahu, Hawaii) shot 81 (+10) in the final round to finish in a tie for 19th place with a 54-hole total of 241 (+28). Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) ended the tournament in 26th place after a third-round 80 (+9) led her to a final score of 244 (+31).

Seattle U posted the lowest team score of the third round with a combined total of 305 (+21), but the Redhawks could not gain enough ground to track down team champion Cal State Fullerton, as the Titans won by four strokes. Seattle U did finish comfortably ahead of Cal State Northridge, Cal Poly, Santa Clara, UC Riverside, and Cal Lutheran.

The Seattle University women's golf team will head to Las Cruces, N.M., for the Price's "Give 'Em Five" Invitational, hosted by New Mexico State at the NMSU Golf Course Oct. 10-12.
