McCleary shot 77 (+5) in the third round to finish the tournament in a tie for fourth place with a three-round total of 224 (+8), four strokes behind medalist Rochelle Chan of Long Beach State. The senior led the field with 39 pars, was tied for second in par-three scoring (-1), and was tied for third in par-four scoring (+5).
Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) stayed in the top 20, finishing in a tie for 15th place after a third-round 80 (+8) gave her a total score of 230 (+14). Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) shot 81 (+9) in the third round and finished the day in a tie for 55th place with a three-round total of 246 (+30).
Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) shot her best round of the tournament, posting a third-round score of 77 (+5) to finish the tournament in a tie for 58th place with a final score of 247 (+31). Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) shot the best round of the day for the Redhawks with a 76 (+4) to finish in a tie for 64th place with a cumulative score of 250 (+34). Michelle Grome (Edmonds, Wash.) posted a third-round 93 (+19) to end the week in 78th place with a score of 277 (+61).
As a team, Seattle U combined to post a third-round 310 (+22) to end the tournament in ninth place with a 54-hole total of 942 (+78), ahead of Hawaii, Weber State, Northern Colorado, McNeese State, and Eastern Washington. Long Beach State won the team title by 10 strokes over Fresno State.
The Seattle University women's golf team will next compete at the Cal Poly Firestone Grill Invitational at the Monarch Dunes Golf Club in Nipomo, Calif., Oct. 3-4.
