The Seattle University women's tennis team picked up several victories during the second day of the Cougar Classic Saturday, hosted by Washington State at the WSU Outdoor Courts.

In the flight two consolation bracket, Gabriella Weissmann (Simi Valley, Calif.) defeated Oliveira of Lewis-Clark State in straight sets (6-1, 6-1), and Anna Lambert (Spokane, Wash.) was victorious over Madeline Parker of Gonzaga, also in straight sets (6-0, 6-1). The Redhawks also received two victories in the flight four consolation bracket, as Natalie Martin (Phoenix, Ariz.) defeated Portland State's Emily McClaran (6-3, 6-1), and Aya Sugimoto (Poulsbo, Wash.) won a hard-fought match over Samantha Merry of Washington State in a super-tiebreaker (6-1, 4-6, 15-13).

In the main draw of flight three, Sarah Lucas (Las Vegas, Nev.) fell to Sandy Vo of Boise State in straight sets (6-2, 6-2). Corinne Wurden (Poulsbo, Wash.) lost to Beatriz Flores of Idaho in the flight three consolation bracket (6-4, 6-4).

In doubles action, Wurden and Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.) defeated Megan Govi and Ashley Spencer of Portland State, 8-1, while Weissmann and Lucas defeated Netti Dayhuff and Florencia Martina of Lewis-Clark State, 8-1. After losing to Vo and Kaitlyn Brown of Boise State, 8-2, Sugimoto and Martin defeated Brittany Ellingsen and Kristen Hibbs of Eastern Washington, 8-6.

The Cougar Classic will conclude Sunday, with play scheduled to start at 9 a.m.
