McCleary shot two of the only three under-par rounds among the 232 circuits of the golf course. With a two-round total of 140 (-4), McCleary is five strokes ahead of Washington State's Kristen Allard.
Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) is in a tie for 30th place after the first day after posting rounds of 77 (+5) and 79 (+7) for a two-round total of 156 (+12). Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) is right behind Quinn in a tie for 39th place with a cumulative score of 157 (+13) after rounds of 78 (+6) and 79 (+7).
After shooting 85 (+13) in her first collegiate round, freshman Monica Keo (Oahu, Hawaii) improved in her second round, posting a score of 79 (+7) to finish the day in a tie for 84th place with a 36-hole score of 164 (+20). Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) posted scores of 83 (+11) and 82 (+10) for a two-round total of 165 (+21), ending the day in a tie for 89th place.
As a team, Seattle University combined for scores of 308 (+20) and 307 (+19) for a two-round total of 615 (+39), finishing the day in third place among the 22-team field. The Redhawks are 10 strokes behind tournament leader Washington State, but only one stroke behind San Francisco in second place.
Seattle U and the rest of the field will play one more round Tuesday morning starting at 8 a.m.
