Senior tri-captain Elliot Richards gives fans an inside look on the men's soccer team.

The season is underway for the Seattle U men's soccer team and we are off to a great start. Currently our record is 1-1-1 and we are looking to improve against our cross-town rivals the University of Washington. This week's training has been the most intense and exciting for the team. This upcoming game gives the men a chance to set the mood for the remainder of the season. Getting a successful result against the 24th-ranked Huskies would be a great stepping-stone towards our ultimate goal of qualifying for the NCAA Tournament. With freshman and transfers positively contributing to the team, the returning Redhawks are excited about what the team is capable of accomplishing.

The incoming players are creating fierce competition for playing time, only making the team more competitive. This season's captains are: Marshall Kosaka, Demaci Roussos, and me, Elliot Richards. We feel that this season can ultimately be our best since arriving at Seattle University.

Attitudes are positive heading into the clash with UW and the atmosphere around campus is roaring and ready for a great game versus the Huskies. The team strongly believes in sticking together and knows that by doing so a great deal can be accomplished. After this past weekend's battle no other words can express the team motto more. The team fought to the end as we entered double over time in both matches. After tying UC Davis, 1-1, the team headed to Cal Poly and in the last second we were able to pull off a victory, 2-1, leading the team in the right direction come Sunday. There will be a packed house on Sunday, September 11, and there will be no better place to be then at Championship Field watching your Seattle U men's soccer team battle the Huskies. GO REDHAWKS!
