The relief pitching for Seattle University, specifically Conor Spink (Eagle River, Alaska), kept the Redhawks in the game, and defensive miscues by the Pacific Tigers allowed Seattle U to score twice in the bottom of the ninth for a 4-3 victory Monday night in the completion of Saturday's suspended game at Bannerwood Park.

With one out in the ninth, Trent Oleszczuk (Beaverton, Ore.) sent a single into center field, and Marcelino Morales (Pasco, Wash.) followed with a single to left-center field. Doug Kincaid (Portland, Ore.) hit a fly ball into left field, but Tiger outfielder Daniel Johnston took a weird path towards the ball, and it hit his glove and fell to the ground, allowing Oleszczuk to score the game-tying run.

On a full count, Josh Kalalau (University Place, Wash.) hit a ground ball to shortstop Josh Simms, who successfully flipped the ball to Tyger Pederson to force out Kincaid. However, Pederson's throw to first base in an attempt to complete the double play sailed wide, allowing Morales to come around and score the game-winning run.

Seafth Howe (Seattle, Wash.) started the night for Seattle U on the mound, allowing five hits, a walk, and one run while striking out two batters. In the top of the fifth, singles by Brian Martin and Allen Riley allowed Matt Carvutto to come around and score, increasing Pacific's lead to 3-1.

Seattle U chipped away at the Tiger advantage in the bottom of the sixth when Cullen Hendrickson (Auburn, Wash.) led off with a double and advanced to third on a sacrifice bunt by Riley Tompkins (Lynnwood, Wash.). A slow grounder towards third base by Nick Latta (Tacoma, Wash.) drove in Hendrickson to cut the Redhawk deficit to one at 3-2.

After Howe gave up a two-out single in the top of the seventh inning, he was replaced by Spink, who settled down after giving up a single to Riley and set down the next six Pacific batters in order. After a single by Carvutto with two outs in the ninth inning, Spink induced a groundout by Martin to end the inning, eventually picking up his fourth victory of the season.

Oleszczuk finished the game 3-for-4 with a walk, a run scored and a run batted in, while Hendrickson went 2-for-3 with a walk. Five Pacific batters notched two hits apiece, with Dustin Torchio adding a fifth-inning double to his home run in the first inning played Saturday.

Seattle University (20-25-1) welcomes NAIA power Lewis-Clark State to Bannerwood Park for a two-game midweek series, the final two home games of the 2011 season for the Redhawks. Before Tuesday's 3 p.m. scheduled first pitch, the four seniors on this year's Seattle U squad will be recognized for their contributions to the program. Live stats and live audio for both games will be available on GoSeattleU.com.
