Seattle University softball shortstop Allegra Wilde (Kennewick, Wash.) has been voted to the Capital One Academic All-District VIII First Team, University Division, it was announced Friday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

"Allegra has been a rock star on the field and off since she arrived at SU," said head coach Dan Powers. "She is another great example of the student-athletes we've been fortunate to have in our program over the past few years. She's following the footsteps of Jamie Foote '09, Jane Purdy '08 and Kelli Marek '07, to name a few. We are very proud of Allegra's award and look forward to many more during her Seattle U career."

The sophomore infielder has been an offensive leader for the Redhawks all season. In 42 consecutive starts, she's hitting .319 (43-for-135), behind 28 RBIs, 22 runs, 11 doubles, three home runs and a triple. Wilde's offensive game is also ranked in the Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC), as she is T-No. 4 in doubles and T-No. 9 in RBIs. Defensively, the Washington native, who moved to shortstop this season, has a .919 fielding percentage.

A leader both on the field and in the classroom, Wilde has excelled academically at Seattle U. She boasts a 3.87 cumulative grade point average as a double major in accounting and finance, with a perfect 4.0 GPA in her finance coursework. Wilde has been named to the Dean's List throughout her collegiate career and is a member of Africa Start-Up, where she will travel to Malawi, Africa to work with business owners to assist them in better managing their businesses. As a freshman in 2010, she was named to the All-PCSC First Team and PCSC Commissioner's Honor Roll.

The 2011 Capital One Academic All‐District ® Softball Teams, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America, recognize the nation's top student‐athletes for their combined performance on the softball field and in the classroom. CoSIDA began this program in the 1950's and, since then, has honored thousands of deserving student-athletes from numerous sports and across all divisions with these elite Capital One Academic All-America® scholar-athlete honors.

Wilde, who is now eligible to be voted onto the Capital One Academic All‐America® Team, and the Redhawks are slated to conclude the 2011 campaign this weekend with a four-game series at Northern Colorado. First pitch on Saturday, May 7 is set for 3 p.m. MT and the series will conclude the following day with game time scheduled for 12 noon MT.
