The Seattle University Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) raised upwards of $2,000 for the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Alaska and Washington at the sixth annual Swishes-for-Wishes faculty versus student charity basketball game.

The event kicked off with a weeklong “Penny War” competition between the student body and different departments on campus. The Seattle U campus raised nearly $500, with the residents of floor two in Bellarmine Hall winning the competition.

The week culminated with the Swishes-for-Wishes game, which brought together faculty and staff from across the SU campus to participate on the faculty/staff team. Seattle U executive vice president Tim Leary was the head coach of the faculty/staff team, this time guiding his squad to victory over the student team.

The student team, coached by ASSU president Kevin Eggers, was made up of students from various academic majors and clubs on campus, including ROTC and campus ministry. Despite their valiant second half efforts, the faculty/staff team outlasted the students to win the game, 58-56.

Throughout the evening, SAAC members coordinated multiple competitions during timeouts and at halftime, held a raffle and ran a bake sale.

All proceeds from the event were donated to Make-A-Wish.
