Unlike the previous two games, Seattle U did not score until the second inning, as Nick Latta (Tacoma, Wash.) singled, advanced to second base on a balk, and came around to score on a single to center field by Trent Oleszczuk (Beaverton, Ore.). Dallas Baptist tied the game in the bottom of the second inning on a Joel Hutter solo home run to left field.
In the top of the third, Doug Kincaid (Portland, Ore.) extended his hitting streak to 11 games with a solo home run over the right field wall, and Sean Narby (Auburn, Wash.) hit a two-out home run that just cleared the high left field fence to extend Seattle U's lead to 3-1. The Redhawks tacked on another run in the fourth when Latta led off with a walk, advanced to second on a sacrifice bunt, and scored on a two-out single to center field by Cullen Hendrickson (Auburn, Wash.).
Dallas Baptist (25-13) cut into the Redhawk lead in the bottom of the fourth inning as Kenny Hatcher reached on an error and Hutter followed with his second home run of the day, another shot over the left field wall.
Latta drew another walk to lead off the top of the sixth inning, followed by a bunt single from Marcelino Morales (Pasco, Wash.). Hendrickson hit his first home run of the season over the right field fence to give the Redhawks a 7-3 cushion. The Redhawks blew the game open in the seventh inning, taking advantage of Patriot control problems to score four runs on just two hits.
Seafth Howe (Seattle, Wash.) started the game for Seattle U, giving up four hits and three runs in four innings while still dealing with an arm injury suffered last Tuesday at Washington. Evan Ewing (Spokane, Wash.) earned his first win of the season, pitching the next four innings and allowing three hits and three runs. Conor Spink (Eagle River, Alaska) allowed a hit and a walk in the ninth inning, but struck out two batters to close out the victory.
The top of the order set everything up for the Redhawks, as Oleszczuk, Hendrickson, and Kincaid combined to go 6-for-12 with four runs scored and nine runs batted in, including five RBI for Hendrickson. For Dallas Baptist, Hutter finished the day 3-for-4 with three home runs, equaling the number of long balls he had hit coming into the game.
