The veterans led the Redhawk charge, as junior Mark Shkrebtan (Redmond, Wash.) defeated Alejandro Espitia in the number two singles position in straight sets (6-4, 6-2), while senior Jordan Prince (Hansville, Wash.) earned a straight-set victory over Andres Perez in the number four singles position (6-2, 6-2).
Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) maintained his perfect record for the weekend, defeating Chris Mack in straight sets in the number five singles position (6-0, 6-0). Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) also won without losing a game, defeating Johnny Brown in the number six position (6-0, 6-0).
The Saturday matches were moved indoors due to rain and tornado concerns in the area, and the singles matches were played first with doubles lineups established just in case they were needed to break a tie. Longwood defeated NJIT, 4-0, to win the tournament.
Seattle University (5-16) is scheduled to face Longwood University Sunday, April 17, at 10 a.m. local time in the final match of the 2010-11 season for both squads.
