Kevin Lynch (Colorado Springs, Colo.) was Seattle U's top player in the contest, first teaming with Jason Bediones (Kent, Wash.) to defeat Edward Becker and Hunter Barnes at number three doubles, 8-5. In the number five singles position, Lynch pulled out a victory over Milo Barajas-Alexander in a super-tiebreaker (7-6 (7-3), 4-6, 1-0 (10-5)).
Bediones saw his perfect weekend end in singles competition, losing to James Davis in the number four singles position in straight sets (6-2, 6-3). Longwood (12-7) won the doubles point with victories in the number one and number two doubles sets, and followed that with four straight-set singles victories as well as an injury default.
Seattle University ends the 2011 dual match season with a 5-17 overall record and a second place finish in the National Independent Tournament. Despite losing Jordan Prince (Hansville, Wash.) and David Kovas (South Bend, Ind.) to graduation, the Redhawks should have an experienced squad back next season, with 11 of the 13 players on the active roster eligible to return in 2011-12.
