BELLINGHAM, Wash. – Seattle University’s Kaytie Bateman (Chehalis, Wash.) placed third in the heptathlon at the Western Washington University Multi held April 7-8, beating her own Seattle U record with a score of 3650.
“She had a terrific first day and a solid second day to get the school record,” said assistant coach Chad Pharis. “She had a strong performance and set up very well for a PR at conference.”
Bateman set four personal records Thursday, running the 100 hurdles in 17.65, clearing 1.47 meters (4-9.75) in the high jump, throwing 8.98 meters (29-5.5) in the shot put, and finishing the 200 meter dash with a time of 28.04, rounding out the first day in fourth place with 2204 points.
On Friday, Bateman competed in the long jump with a distance of 4.60 meters. She threw the javelin 27.29 meters (89-6) and ran the 800 meter run in 2:40.55 to move up into third place.
The Redhawks’ next competition will be at the Oregon-Washington Dual in Spokane, Wash. on Saturday, April 9.
