On Deck: Seattle U will host their second consecutive conference series from Apr. 16 to 17. The Utah Valley Wolverines travel to the Emerald City for the weekend match up.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks concluded their non-conference schedule with a sound 16-8 five inning victory over UNLV on Apr. 2, to conclude the UNLV Pre-Conference Round-Up. In their season-best performance, SU tallied three home runs, including a grand slam from Theresa Clark. Sophomore pitcher Jessica Ulrich earned her first win in the game.
PCSC Opener: SU opens PCSC conference action this weekend with Weber State. The Redhawks will host three consecutive weekend series before concluding the season on the road.
Special Concessions for Saturday DH: Seattle U’s ASSU is sponsoring local eateries Rancho Bravo and Old School Frozen Custard to run the concession stand for Saturday’s doubleheader. The first 150 fans will receive free food.
Clark Named SU’s Featured Student-Athlete of the Week: Sophomore Theresa Clark was selected GoSeattleU.com’s Featured Student-Athlete of the Week, following a standout performance against UNLV on Apr. 2. The utility player went 2-for-3, with seven RBIs, two runs, a double and her first career grand slam.
Hittin’ Yard: At UNLV on Apr. 2, the Redhawks hit a season-best three home runs in the game. Homers came from Jessica Amador, Allegra Wilde and a grand slam from Theresa Clark. SU defeated UNLV 16-8 in five innings.
Ulrich Earns First Win in the Circle: Sophomore pitcher Jessica Ulrich earned her first win in the circle against UNLV on Apr. 2. In her five inning complete game performance, she had a strikeout in 30 batters faced. She also had a solid day at the plate, going 2-for-4, with a run.
Scouting Weber State: The Wildcats of Weber State are coming off a doubleheader sweep of Utah State on Apr. 5, to improve their record to 7-19. WSU is currently 4-3 in their last seven games, all played at home. Leading the Wildcat offense is Erika James, who in 26 consecutive starts is 27-for-74 and is hitting .365. Brandi Christopher is the squad’s home run leader, behind three homers, she’s hitting .245 (12-for-49).
Defensively, three of Weber State’s four-player pitching staff has a pair of wins. The team is led by Britinie Hardine’s 2-3 record and 3.28 ERA. She’s pitched in 17 games, making one start and posting a pair of saves. In 42.2 innings pitched, she’s thrown 35 strikeouts.
