At the UW Final Qualifier on Saturday, March 5 at Dempsey Indoor, Erik Barkhaus (Whitefish Bay, Wis.) set a new Seattle University school record in the 3000 meter run with a time of 8:28.36, beating the old record of 8:32.30.

“It was great to see Barkhaus bounce back and toe the line with confidence this weekend,” said head coach Trisha Steidl. “He ran a smart and determined race. I’m proud of the tenacity I saw in him.”

The UW Final Qualifier is the last chance for athletes to set NCAA qualifying marks for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships set for March 11-12. 

 

The Redhawk outdoor track and field teams will begin the season on Saturday, March 12 at the PLU Invitational in Tacoma, Wash. at 9 a.m.
