The Seattle University women's golf team struggled in the third and final round of the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational, but still managed a 10th place finish Tuesday in the tournament hosted by the University of Hawaii at the Kane'ohe Klipper Golf Course.

Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) shot 80 (+8) in the final round to stay in the top 20 of the individual standings, finishing in a tie for 19th place with a final score of 230 (+14). Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) ended the tournament in a tie for 52nd place with a three-round total of 236 (+20) after a final-round 83 (+11).

Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) posted the best score of the third round for the Redhawks, shooting 79 (+7) to move into a tie for 62nd place with a final score of 239 (+23). Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) shot 82 (+10) in the final round to finish the tournament in a tie for 64th place with a score of 240 (+24). Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) finished the day with an 86 (+14) for a 54-hole total of 251 (+35) to land in a tie for 93rd place.

As a team, Seattle University's third-round score of 324 (+36) landed the Redhawks in 10th place in the final standings with a cumulative score of 942 (+78), only one stroke behind ninth-place Fresno State. However, Seattle U did finish one stroke ahead of host school Hawaii, and the team also finished the tournament in front of regional rivals Idaho, Gonzaga, and Boise State.

Arizona State, the 10th-ranked team in the country, posted the best round of the day at 301 (+13) to cruise to the team title by 15 strokes over in-state rival and sixth-ranked Arizona. On a day when nobody shot under par, the Sun Devils' Carlota Ciganda earned medalist honors after a third-round 73 (+1) put her at 215 (-1) for the tournament, one stroke in front of Arizona's Alejandra Llaneza.

The Seattle University women will join the men's team as both squads compete at the Cal Poly Lamkin Grip Match Play Challenge March 24-25 at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course in Arroyo Grande, Calif. The men's team will begin Spring Break at the Folino Invitational, hosted by Cal State Fullerton March 21-22 at the Oak Creek Golf Club in Irvine, Calif.
