For the second day in a row, the Seattle University softball team conceded an early advantage to fall in both games played Saturday at the Husky Softball Classic. The Redhawks dropped a 10-2 decision to fellow PCSC Mountain Division rival Portland State in their early game and fell 16-2 to No. 5 Washington in five innings to close out the day.

Versus Portland State, Sarah Petosa (Auburn, Wash.) reached on a leadoff walk and was advanced on a Brianna Guerrero (Buena Park, Wash.) sacrifice bunt to open the top of the first. With an out and a runner on second, Natalie Leyland's (Richland, Wash.) single brought home Petosa and she advanced to second on the play. Allegra Wilde (Kennewick, Wash.) singled to right center and brought home Leyland to give the Redhawks a 2-0 lead in the top of the first.

After holding a 2-0 lead, Portland State would take a 3-2 advantage in the bottom of the third. The Vikings added five runs in the bottom of the fourth and an addition two runs in the fifth to seal their come-from-behind 10-2 victory.

The Redhawks concluded day two action with tournament-host Washington. Seattle U once again opened up things by striking first. With one out, Guerrero was sent to first after getting hit by a pitch. In the third spot in the lineup, Leyland doubled to left center to put runners on second and third. Wilde followed posting SU's second consecutive double. She brought home both Guerrero and Leyland to give Seattle U a 2-0 advantage going into the bottom half of the first.

The Redhawks early lead once again was short lived. The nationally ranked Huskies responded with 11 runs in the bottom half of the inning and tacked on five runs in the second inning.

For SU on the day, Leyland was 2-for-5, with two runs and an RBI, while Wilde was 2-for-6, with three RBIs. Katie Gould (Medford, Ore.) also saw success at the plate, going 3-for-4.

Seattle U will conclude play at the three day tournament on Sunday, Mar. 13. The Redhawks are scheduled to play USC Upstate at 10:30 a.m. Due to the potential of rain, game time may be adjusted. Updates about game time will be posted on www.GoSeattleU.com.
