Thanks to improved performances by the top four golfers Tuesday, the Seattle University women's golf team moved up to 12th place in the final standings of the Fresno State Lexus Classic at the Copper River Country Club.

Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) shot Seattle U's best round of the tournament, playing the course in one-over-par 73 to move into a tie for 24th place with a final score of 233 (+17). Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) also shot her best round of the two days, posting a score of 77 (+5) for a cumulative score of 237 (+21), good enough for a tie for 41st place.

Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) posted 78 (+6) in the third round for a total score of 246 (+30) to finish in a tie for 64th place. Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) finished the tournament in a tie for 72nd place with a three-round total of 250 (+34) after shooting 82 (+10) Tuesday, and Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) shot 87 (+15) in the final round for a tournament total of 262 (+46) that put her in 81st place.

As a team, Seattle University combined for a score of 310 (+22), 18 strokes better than the scores in each of the first two rounds. The Redhawks were able to pass Cal State Fullerton and Sacramento State to finish in 12th place with a three-round score of 966 (+102). UC Davis won the team title with a final score of 893 (+29), 17 strokes ahead of second-place Cal Poly. Katrina Hegge of San Francisco won medalist honors with a final score of even-par 216, three strokes ahead of Alice Kim of UC Davis.

The Seattle University women's golf team will head to Hawaii for the Dr. Donnis Thompson Invitational next Monday and Tuesday, March 14-15.
