Versus Idaho State, the Bengals struck early with a pair of runs in the top of the first. In the bottom half of the inning, with two outs and a runner on first, Kelli Demianew (Pendleton, Ore.) hit a double to left center. The Redhawks had runners on second and third, but were unable to keep things going offensively.
ISU would again strike with a pair of runs in the third, sixth and seventh innings. SU’s offense was unable to find their grounding and scattered five hits in the final five innings.
Things did not fair better for the Redhawks in their second game of the day versus Illinois State. The Redbirds took off behind four runs, while Seattle U’s offense was unable to reach base in the first two innings.
Illinois State sealed their victory in the bottom of the third, as they scored 12 runs. The 16 run deficit was too much for SU’s offense to respond from, as they were unable to get on the board in the final two innings of action.
The Redhawks (0-9) will conclude tournament action on Sunday with No. 9/12 Arizona State in a 10 a.m. MT contest.
