Up Next For the Redhawks: After playing their last four games on the road, the Seattle University women's basketball team returns home to host Harvard (8-6 overall, 1-0 Ivy) on Saturday, Jan. 22, in a 4 p.m. contest in the Connolly Center.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks (5-15) saw much progression from their youthful squad over the past week. They spent the last six days on the road, playing three games on an extended road trip. The Redhawks dropped a 74-64 decision to Utah Valley (Jan. 15), fell to Chicago State, 59-53, on Jan. 17, and concluded the trip with a 70-51 loss to Wyoming (Jan. 19).

On Deck: Seattle U will square off with Chicago State in a rematch at home on Saturday, Jan. 29, in a 4 p.m. contest.

In the National Rankings: Daidra Brown is tied for No. 23 in the nation in steals per game. The sophomore transfer is averaging 3.1 spg, behind 20 games played and 62 total steals on the season.

Finally Home!: After playing their last four games on the road, the Redhawks will play their next two contests at home in the Connolly Center, beginning with Harvard on Saturday, Jan. 22, at 4 p.m.

Can I Assist You?: Junior Elle Kerfoot has tallied 70 assists in 20 starts this season. She is averaging a team-leading 3.5 dishes per game.

Christianson Rejoins Starting Five: Senior Julee Christianson rejoined the starting five, making consecutive starts at Chicago State (Jan. 17) and at Wyoming (Jan. 19).

The Places We Go: The Redhawks are coming off a six day road trip. During that time they traveled to four different states in a six day span. SU flew from Seattle to Salt Lake City, Utah to square off with Utah Valley in Orem on Jan. 15. They followed that by heading to Chicago, Ill. to face the Cougars of Chicago State on Jan. 17. SU then flew to Denver, Colo. and drove two-plus hours to Laramie, Wyo. to take on Wyoming on Jan. 19.

Forward Progress: Despite riding a 0-4 wave currently, the young Redhawk squad made significant progress and are becoming a much more experienced group that is gelling together.

Top Scorers: Junior Elle Kerfoot and senior Salena Dickerson continue to lead the Redhawk offense, as they have done all season. Kerfoot is averaging 11.6 ppg and Dickerson closely follows averaging 11.3 ppg.


In the Classroom: The Redhawks excelled in the classroom during the Fall Quarter. The team posted above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.

Redhawks Add Midseason Transfer: Seattle U added sophomore point guard Nichole Jackson to the Redhawk hoops squad for the Winter 2011 quarter. Due to NCAA transfer rule she will have to sit out for a year and will be eligible to begin action with SU in the Winter of 2012.

Some Coaching History: Head coach Joan Bonvicini enters Wednesday's action behind 623 career victories. She is in the top-20 in all-time wins among both active DI coaches and all-time DI history.

Kerfoot Named to All-Tournament Team: Co-captain and point guard Elle Kerfoot was the selected to the Seattle U Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team on Nov. 27, following her 30 point performance and helping guide SU to the championship game.

Seattle U Inks Three for 2011-12: Monique Abbs (Phoenix, Ariz.), Renee Dillard-Brown (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Flournoy (San Diego, Calif.) will join the Seattle U women's team next season. This is the second recruiting class head coach Joan Bonvicini has signed since joining SU for the 2009-10 season.

The Captains: Junior point guard Elle Kerfoot and senior post Tatiana Heck will serve as captains for the Redhawks is 2010-11.

Scouting Harvard: The Harvard Crimson are currently on a two-game winning streak, coming off a pair of victories at home. They most recently defeated Darthmouth in their Ivy opener on Jan. 15, 82-49.

Leading HU this season is Brogan Berry, who is averaging 14.4 ppg in 14 games played and 13 starts. The Crimson are averaging four players in double figures, with Victoria Lippert and Emma Markley both averaging 12.9 ppg, and Christine Clark, with 12.3 ppg.

The Last Time Seattle U Faced Harvard: This will be the first career meeting between the Redhawks and the Crimson in program history.
