Up Next For the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's basketball team will kick off a three-game road swing at Utah Valley (1-14) on Saturday, Jan. 15, at 3 p.m. MT. SU will be on the road for six straight days during the road swing.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks (5-12) opened up the second half of the season 1-1, seeing their first loss in 2011 at Cal State Bakersfield on Jan. 9, 81-65. Five players scored in double figures in the game.
On Deck: Seattle U will travel to Chicago State (Jan. 17) and wrap up things at Wyoming (Jan. 19) to conclude their six day road trip.

Newbies Doing Work: The new players on the Redhawk hoops squad continue to develop and make contributions on the floor. At CSU Bakersfield, SU had five players score in double digits. Four of the double figure scorers were first year players.
Six Days: Seattle U will embark on their longest road trip of the season. Their three-game road swing will have the Redhawks away from the Emerald City for six days.
Ward Earns Second Starting Nod: Freshman Ashley Ward made back-to-back starts to open 2011. She adds height to the starting five, in addition to strong ball control. She was one of five players to score in double digits, sending in 10 points and grabbing down six boards.
A New Look: In addition to freshman Ashley Ward making consecutive starts, sophomore Carley Butcher has moved into the starting five. Butcher takes over center duties and has made four straight starts.
In the Classroom: The Redhawks excelled in the classroom during the Fall Quarter. The team posted above a 3.0 cumulative grade point average.
Redhawks Add Midseason Transfer: Seattle U added sophomore point guard Nichole Jackson to the Redhawk hoops squad for the Winter 2011 quarter. Due to NCAA transfer rule she will have to sit out for a year and will be eligible to begin action with SU in the Winter of 2012.
Some Coaching History: Head coach Joan Bonvicini enters Saturday's action behind 623 career victories. She is in the top-20 in all-time wins among both active DI coaches and all-time DI history.
Kerfoot Named to All-Tournament Team: Co-captain and point guard Elle Kerfoot was the selected to the Seattle U Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team on Nov. 27, following her 30 point performance and helping guide SU to the championship game.
Seattle U Inks Three for 2011-12: Monique Abbs (Phoenix, Ariz.), Renee Dillard-Brown (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Flournoy (San Diego, Calif.) will join the Seattle U women's team next season. This is the second recruiting class head coach Joan Bonvicini has signed since joining SU for the 2009-10 season.
The Captains: Junior point guard Elle Kerfoot and senior post Tatiana Heck will serve as captains for the Redhawks is 2010-11.
Scouting Utah Valley: Utah Valley currently is on a 10-game losing slide, seeing their lone win of the year versus Northern New Mexico on Nov. 27, 90-46. The Wolverines (1-14) are coming off a 79-46 loss at Chicago State on Jan. 8.
Leading UVU is Sammie Jensen, who is averaging 12.3 ppg and 10.1 rpg. Jenna Johnson is also scoring in double figures, averaging 10.2 ppg. Abbie Beutler leads the team in assists, with 65.
Last Time Seattle U Faced Utah Valley: This will be the first meeting between Utah Valley and Seattle U in program history.
LOOKING AHEAD...
Scouting Chicago State: Chicago State (9-8) currently is on a three-game winning streak. They defeated Houston Baptist 92-64 on Jan. 13, behind Courtney Waldon's 23 points.
This season, Tressa Beckel leads the squad with 18.3 ppg. Waldon follows with 15.6 ppg and Janay Dockery rounds out the trio of top performers with 13.5 ppg.
Scouting Wyoming: The Cowgirls of Wyoming currently are sporting an 11-3 overall record. They are on a five-game winning streak, seeing a 63-53 victory at New Mexico on Jan. 8.
Hillary Carlson leads the UW offense with 18.5 ppg, in 14 consecutive starts. Following Carlson is Aubrey Vandiver, with 17.7 ppg and 9.9 rpg.
