Up Next For the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's basketball team will host Navy (6-6) in a New Year's Day match up. First tip is slated for 7:30 p.m. in the Connolly Center.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks (4-11) were unable to breakaway with a victory at the inaugural State Farm Holiday Hoops Classic from Dec. 29-30. SU dropped a 61-52 decision to Loyola Marymount to open up the two-day event. The following day, they were the dominate team on the floor early versus Gonzaga. They held onto a 42-40 lead going into halftime, but the Bulldogs put together a strong second half to hand the Redhawks a 91-64 loss.
On Deck: Seattle U will return to the road on Sunday, Jan. 9, to square off with Cal State Bakersfield in a 2 p.m. game.

What a First Half!: While the end result did not go in their favor, the Redhawks put together a brilliant first half versus the Gonzaga Bulldogs. They shot 63 percent from the field and led the Zags 42-40 heading into the break. The youthful Redhawk squad will look to build upon their experience versus GU heading into the second half of the season.
Butcher Moves into Starting Five: Sophomore Carley Butcher moved into the starting five this week, posting consecutive starts at the State Farm Holiday Hoops Classic. She scored 17 points in her two-day effort and provided significant lifts for the Redhawks in their Dec. 30 game versus Gonzaga.
The Steal Counter: Sophomore transfer Daidra Brown currently is on pace to break the single-season steal record for the Seattle U. She currently is averaging 3.4 steals per game, behind 51 total steals in 15 games played. The current record is held by Jackie Thomas' 2007-08 3.1 steals per game.
SEVENTY-ONE!: Seattle U tallied a season high 71 rebounds at Sacramento State on Dec. 17. Single-game records were not kept prior to SU reclassifying back to NCAA DI status. The 71 boards are a most Seattle U has made in a single-game since playing a full DI schedule last season.
Kerfoot's Development: Junior point guard has developed into a strong leader for the Redhawks this season. The SU co-captain was hot versus Gonzaga on Dec. 30, especially from downtown, where she scored 15 of her 19 points in the game.
Some Coaching History: Head coach Joan Bonvicini enters Saturday's action behind 622 career victories. She is in the top-20 in all-time wins among both active DI coaches and all-time DI history.
Dickerson Trends: Senior transfer Salena Dickerson has scored in double figures in nine of the Redhawks 15 games played. In 15 starts, she is the team's top rebounder (6.3 rpg) and the second top scorer (10.9 ppg).
At the State Farm Holiday Hoops Classic, she scored a team-leading 18 points versus Loyola Marymount on Dec. 29, and followed that with 10 points versus Gonzaga the following day.
Kerfoot Named to All-Tournament Team: Co-captain and point guard Elle Kerfoot was the selected to the Seattle U Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team on Nov. 27, following her 30 point performance and helping guide SU to the championship game.
Seattle U Inks Three for 2011-12: Monique Abbs (Phoenix, Ariz.), Renee Dillard-Brown (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Flournoy (San Diego, Calif.) will join the Seattle U women's team next season. This is the second recruiting class head coach Joan Bonvicini has signed since joining SU for the 2009-10 season.
The Captains: Junior point guard Elle Kerfoot and senior post Tatiana Heck will serve as captains for the Redhawks is 2010-11.
Scouting Navy: The US Naval Academy travels west riding a 2-4 record to close out the month of December. The Midshipmen (6-6) are coming off a one-point edging, 63-62, over Air Force to close out the first half of their season.
Three players are currently averaging in double digits, with Angela Myers leading the way with 14.2 ppg. Rounding out the trio of top scorers are Cassie Consedine (12 ppg) and Jasmine Pitts (10 ppg). The squad's top rebounder is Jade Geif, with 6.9 rpg.
Last Time Seattle U Faced Navy: This will be the first meeting between SU and Navy.
