Junior Jordan Anderson (Newberg, Ore.) has been named the MPSF Male Swimmer of the Week after his performance at Utah and BYU last weekend, the MPSF announced earlier this week. This is the second time this season a Redhawk has been selected for the honor.

"Jordan is a tremendously talented swimmer and a team player," said interim head coach Kat Cuevas. "His intensity and ability brings leadership to our team and are traits that add to his role as a student-athlete."

At Utah on Friday, Anderson had two first-place finishes, one in the 100 butterfly with a time of 50.77 and the other in the 50 freestyle in 20.81, leading a one-two finish in that event for the Redhawks. The following day at BYU, Anderson also had winning outcomes in the 50 freestyle in 20.78 and the 100 freestyle in 45.92.

Anderson currently holds the top time in the MPSF for the season in the 50 free with a time of 20.40 that was set on October 15, 2010 at the University of Hawaii. His 100 freestyle time of 45.42, also set at the Hawaii meet, is second in the conference.

Seattle University is in its first year of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in both men’s and women’s swimming. The team will compete in the MPSF Championships in Long Beach on February 23-26.

Anderson and the rest of the men’s team will next host Whitworth University at the Connolly Center on Friday, Jan. 28th.
