This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University women's basketball team will hit the road for a midweek match up at the University of Portland (5-2) on Wednesday, Dec. 1, at 7 p.m. They will close out the week with a 2 p.m. game versus Boise State (5-2) in the Connolly Center on Sunday, Dec. 5.

Last Time Out: The Redhawks (1-5) earned their first win of the season on Nov. 26, over Montana State. The 66-56 victory guided them to the Seattle U Thanksgiving Tournament championship game. In the tournament finale, SU struggled to get their offense in sync, as they fell 71-51 to Bowling Green on Nov. 27.

Elle Kerfoot was named to the all-tournament team.

On Deck: Seattle U will remain at home for a pair of games versus Idaho on Saturday, Dec. 11, at 1 p.m. and on Monday, Dec. 13, versus UC Irvine at 7 p.m.

The Seattle U Thanksgiving Tournament: The Redhawks earned their first victory of the 2010-11 campaign this past week. They opened the Seattle U Thanksgiving Tournament with a 66-56 victory over Montana State on Nov. 26, to advance to the championship game versus Bowling Green. SU suffered a 71-51 loss to BGSU. Junior Elle Kerfoot, who tallied 30 points on the weekend, went on to represent the Redhawks on the all-tournament team.

Dickerson Earns Featured Student-Athlete Honors: Senior Salena Dickerson was named Seattle U's Featured Student-Athlete of the Week honors following a great weekend of action at the Seattle U Thanksgiving Tournament. She scored 27 points on the weekend, including tying the team-leading 16 points versus Montana State on Nov. 26, in SU's first win of the year. She also posted 12 boards on the weekend.

On the season, Dickerson is averaging 10.3 ppg and 5.5 rpg in six consecutive starts. This is the first time the Federal Way, Wash. native is being recognized with the honor.

Kerfoot Named to All-Tournament Team: Co-captain and point guard Elle Kerfoot was the selected to the Seattle U Thanksgiving All-Tournament Team following her 30 point performance and helping guide SU to the championship game.

Top Scorers: Junior Elle Kerfoot and senior Salena Dickerson are the Redhawks top scorers heading into this week. Kerfoot is averaging 12.3 ppg, while Dickerson is averaging 10.3 ppg.

Sowell Moves into Starting Five: Freshman Kacie Sowell continues to develop and learn the collegiate game. She has started in SU's last four games, seeing action in all six. This season she has led the team in rebounds four times, and has been both a blocked shot and steal leader.

On the season, Sowell is averaging 5.7 ppg and a team-leading 7.8 rpg.

Seattle U Inks Three for 2011-12: Monique Abbs (Phoenix, Ariz.), Renee Dillard-Brown (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Flournoy (San Diego, Calif.) will join the Seattle U women's team next season. This is the second recruiting class head coach Joan Bonvicini has signed since joining SU for the 2009-10 season.

Scouting Portland: Portland (5-2) came away with a split record after participating in the Houston Baptist Tournament this past weekend. The Pilots lost their first game against Lamar, 66-76, and finished the weekend with a win against Houston Baptists, 80-59.

On the season, Portland has three players scoring in double-digits, led by Natalie Day's 16.4 ppg off the bench.  Nakeisha Brown (13.3 ppg) and ReZina Teclemariam (10.9) round out their top scorers.  Alexis Gannis leads the team in rebounds with 7.4 per game.

Last Time Seattle U Faced Portland: The Redhawks are 4-7 all-time versus Portland. SU last faced UP on Jan. 3, 2010 where Seattle U suffered a 74-69 overtime loss at home.

Scouting Boise State: Boise State (5-2) is coming off a Coors Rocky Mountain Invitational championship in Fort Collins, Colo. The Broncos tallied wins against Texas A&M-Corpus Christi (77-66) and Texas Southern (65-48), both Texas team have yet to record a win this season.

On the year, BSU is lead by Kati Isham, with 13.3 ppg and 2.9 rpg.  Julia Marshall, Lauren Lenhardt and Janie Bos also contribute with around 10 point per game each. Bos also leads the team in rebounds with 7.1 per contest.  Boise State is averaging 73 points per game, but is turning the ball over an average of 22.4 times.

Boise State will take on the University of Oregon prior to heading to Seattle.

Last Time Seattle U Faced Boise State: Seattle U is 2-5 all-time versus Boise State. SU last faced the Broncos on Dec. 21, 2010 where Seattle U suffered a 57-47 loss at Taco Bell Arena.
