The Seattle University baseball team took time recently to join with Andersen Construction in improving the exterior look of the North Seattle Boys and Girls Club.

On the morning of Saturday, Oct. 30, the team traded in their baseball uniforms for jeans, work gloves, and tools as they cleaned, landscaped, and painted the facility to benefit the North Seattle community. Andersen Construction, a partner with Seattle University athletics in numerous projects benefiting the program, arranged the service opportunity as part of its Monumentous Community Giveback.

Scenes from the day of service can be found in the photo album that accompanies this story. The North Seattle Boys and Girls Club is located at 8635 Fremont Avenue in North Seattle.

The Seattle University athletics department mission statement reads, "To champion the holistic development of student-athletes inspiring a vital and engaged campus community through the development and maintenance of a premier, nationally prominent NCAA Division I athletics program, in the spirit of the Jesuit tradition." Part of that mission in action is to encourage student-athletes to engage the greater community through meaningful service activity.
